_ 5 Day Bwindi Bunyonyi Queen Elizabeth

The misty Bwindi Forest, home to more than half of the remaining 720 Mountain Gorillas, is the setting for this 5-day gorilla trek safari. The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest provides a unique opportunity for birding, cultural experiences, and a scenic allure of stunning hills and lush vegetation inhabited by the elusive primates. The gorilla trek is the most captivating activity in this forest. Before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park for some excellent game viewing.

Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi Transfer

After breakfast, you will depart for an 8-9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the country’s southwestern region. You will have a photo opportunity at the Equator, where you will be able to stand in both hemispheres at the same time. You’ll stop for lunch again en route before continuing on to Bwindi, where you’ll arrive in the evening. Broadbill Forest Camp will be our home for dinner and the night.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Lake Bunyonyi Tour

You’ll have an early morning breakfast before heading to the Park headquarters at 7:45 a.m. for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules with other trackers. To find the gorillas, you’ll have to trek through thickets and undergrowth with your guides, which can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours. The densely forested landscape is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails that provide access to tourists. Once the gorillas have been located, you will have one hour to spend with them before being transferred to Lake Bunyonyi. The journey will take you through a beautiful part of the country known as the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its unique cool climate despite its proximity to the Equator. This lake is said to be one of western Uganda’s most beautiful spots. It is Africa’s second deepest lake [900 meters] and one of the few places in the country where swimming is considered safe due to the absence of bilharzia. Bunyonyi Safari Resort will host dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Get up early in the morning, eat your breakfast, and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the volcanic formations of the western Rift Valley. The descent offers a breathtaking view of Lakes George and Edward set against a backdrop of game-filled plains, where you will stop for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Boat cruise and game drive

Early in the morning, have breakfast, and then go on a game drive to see lions, leopards, giant forest hogs, buffalo, elephants, deffasa, waterbuck, topi, Uganda kobs, and bushbuck. The game drive takes 3 to 4 hours. Later, return to your hotel for lunch, relax, and then go on a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel and onto Lake Edward. The trip passes through an area with the highest concentration of hippos in Africa, as well as many mammals drinking water. The cruise provides a fantastic opportunity for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is diverse and plentiful. Return for dinner and the night.

Day 5: Kalinzu Chimp Track returning to Kampala

Early in the morning, your guide will drive you to the Kalinzu offices for a briefing. When it comes to seeing chimps in the wild in Western Uganda, Kalinzu is the second-best option. Chimpanzee Tracking is a 45-minute drive from Queen Elizabeth Park’s Mweya area; this is a National Forest where the minimum age for Chimpanzee Tracking is 12, not 15, much to the delight of many a pre-teen. You will then be transferred to Entebbe.
