4 Day Tarangire Serengeti Ngorongoro

This 4-day safari takes you on a tour of the Northern Safari Circuit’s highlights. In the midst of diverse landscapes, you will encounter breathtaking wildlife. Because of its large population of predators, the Serengeti National Park is perhaps the most well-known game reserve in the world, especially because of the annual migration of 2,000,000 ungulates and approximately 30,000 animals that live on the crater floor at Ngorongoro!

Day 1: Arrive in Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing.

After breakfast, we will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. from your hotel or airport in Arusha and drive for 2 hours to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is best known for its elephant families, savannah, iconic baobab trees, seasonal swamps and the Tarangire River which provides life to the region. In the park, you’ll have lunch and go on a game drive. Thousands of wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo, and fringe-eared Oryx migrate from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron to the river’s bank, significantly increasing the resident population. The Tarangire pools are full of thirsty migrants during the dry season, and elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed. The highest recorded number of breeding bird species for any habitat in the world is said to be found in Tarangire National Park.

Day 2: Depart for an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park

With a packed lunch, you depart after breakfast for the world’s most famous safari park, Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is home to the world’s largest population of wild animals and a complex untouched ecosystem. In Maasai language, Serengeti means “endless plains”, a description that the Serengeti more than lives up to. To fully appreciate these endless plains, one must first experience them. Seronera Valley, the Serengeti’s heart, will be visited. This valley is the ‘classic’ Serengeti, with short grass plains and a variety of wild animals ranging from the imposing lion to the mischievous mongoose. After an evening of incredible Serengeti impressions, grab a hot dinner and spend the night at Serengeti Tanapa Rest House.

Day 3: Crater, Serengeti National Park

You’ll get up very early for a sunrise game drive to spot animals when they’re more active and to see a spectacular African sunrise, one of the most breathtaking sights on the planet. After breakfast, check out and travel to the Ngorongoro Crater, you will return to camp. The crater, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains a unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the beginning of time. You have a good chance of seeing ‘The Big 5′: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard deep within the crater, which is surrounded by towering walls. You’ll need a little luck with the latter two, as they tend to flee. On the crater floor, there are approximately 30,000 animals. During this exciting game drive, you will have lunch. You will ascend to the crater rim and drive to the Rhino Lodge after spending a full day inside the crater. You will have dinner and enjoy your overnight stay after checking in.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater, transfer to Arusha

You will check out of the lodge and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater after an early breakfast. Your final game drive will take you down a steep track into the caldera. You’ll get to see a wide variety of animals and birds. Over 25,000 mammals, including the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard), and over 500 species of birds, live in the caldera (a collapsed volcano). You’ll have a picnic lunch inside the crater and then return up the crater rim later in the afternoon. After that, you’ll drive back to Arusha, arriving late in the afternoon.
