This 3-day Primate Safari in Kibale Forest National Park (Primate Capital) is truly magical, with activities like Chimpanzee tracking, Chimpanzee Habituation, swamp walks, hiking, biking, and many more. On this tour, you will be able to see the Park’s 13 species of primates as well as participate in activities such as village and swamp walks in the surrounding area.
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
You’ll begin your journey to western Uganda by driving through lush greenery and tea plantations. During the market walk after lunch, you will have the opportunity to interact with locals. You will have a one-hour drive to Kibale Forest, where you may see monkeys, birds, and baboons along the way and during the stop-overs. Depending on your budget, you will sleep at any of the suggested lodgings. This journey takes approximately 6-7 hours.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking.
Begin the day with breakfast at the lodge and get ready for your Chimpanzee walk. Around 13 primate species can be found in Kibale Forest National Park. Many types of monkeys, including the wonderful Red Columbus, Grey cheeked Manga bey, Black and white Columbus monkey, L’hoest monkey, and the amazing Chimpanzees can be seen at the park. Today, you will have an hour with our cousins, and the trip will last 3-4 hours, including a walk through the tropical rainforest with an experienced guide. After lunch, you’ll go on a walk through Bigodi Swamp to see some monkeys and bird species. The walk will take you through grassland, small communities where the locals are eager to shake hands with white people, coffee plantations, and people’s gardens to see how they go about their daily lives.
Day 3: Return to Kampala / Entebbe.
After breakfast, you will drive to Kampala and take a city tour, stopping at numerous craft markets and the Kampala taxi park, where hundreds of commuter taxis are parked in a small park (you will be guided to climb the adjacent high buildings to have an aerial view of this sometimes chaotic park). Alternatively, you can visit Kampala’s largest Mosque, which was built with the support of Late Muamar Gadaffi, Libya’s former President, or transfer to Entebbe. Lunch will be served in a nice restaurant of your choice in Kampala, after which you will be transferred to your hotel or to the airport for your flight. It will take 5-6 hours to travel from Kibale.
